The owner of Thor, a dog in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was shocked to find their beloved pet covered in hundreds of quills. The pictures showed the golden-brown dog with a multitude of yellow quills sticking out of its muzzle, forehead, nose, ears, and legs.
Adriano Bertoline, a man who was out of work, started a crowdfunding campaign on the internet when he couldn’t afford to pay for his pet’s vet bill.
Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a council member in the area, came to the rescue by transporting Thor to a veterinary clinic and helping out with the costs.
Three-year-old Thor seems to have had a run-in with a porcupine for the second time this year, causing some pretty gnarly wounds. After discovering Thor with a bunch of quills poking out of him, Bertoline took to the internet to ask for help in getting him patched up.
“Hey everyone, good morning!” he tweeted. Waking up today, I found my dog in a bad state. Is there a vet or clinic that can help, even if I can’t afford it?” A compassionate councilor, Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, saw the tweet and offered to help.
On a Facebook post, Adriano expressed his gratitude for Dr. Apolari, who he described as a savior for his dog when he couldn’t afford a private vet. Adriano, who is currently jobless with four kids, mentioned how the councillor helped take Thor to the clinic, covered the costs, and brought him back home.
Thor’s owner shared that this is the second time his dog has run into a porcupine within a year. Back in February 2021, Adriano’s friend, who was working at a private vet clinic, helped treat the injured dog.
It was unclear what happened to the porcupine after the dog attack.
